Description: This coffeehouse lies in the basement of The Yellow Door: a community and non-profit organization based in Montreal. They host an open stage every Friday evening – for those looking to relax and enjoy music without the volume of a bar-restaurant. At more than half a century, this is Canada’s oldest folk music coffeehouse venue. It’s an all-acoustic, “hootenanny” open stage, consisting of mostly folk music and some spoken word. This means there are no microphones. Additionally, there’s a featured performer in the middle of the evening, who is often drawn from a previous night. The audience is quiet and attentive, and has been described as Montreal’s friendliest open stage. It’s an alcohol-free alternative to the bar scene and all ages are welcome 🙂 Sign up is from 20:00 to 20:30! Check out their YouTube channel to get the vibe of this night.
